Have you ever walked into a room and felt as if it just didn't feel complete? That it didn't give you the warm fuzzies or that sense of delight? It is most likely because it is missing a key element to the design, if not several key elements. In this series, we will be discussing design essentials for every room in your home! Whenever Asha Maía Design is hired for a project, we consider a specific set of elements in each design. Because room size, shape, and/or design style vary, not every project always calls for each specific item; however, it is still our goal to incorporate these essentials into each finished project.
We will be continuing our Design Essentials series this month with a special treat... Home for the Holidays!
Decorating our homes for the holidays is such a special tradition. It's what makes getting through the dreary days of fall and winter bearable. The warm glow of twinkle lights, glittering ornaments catching the light on the Christmas tree, and the fragrant aroma of Cyprus garland adorning the mantle all give us that warm and fuzzy feeling we've come to love over the seasons. Whether you love modern or traditional, simple or extravagant, it can't be denied that decorating for the holidays elevates the season's magic and warmth and provides the perfect setting for creating cherished memories.
When decorating for the holidays, we have several goals. We like to concentrate our focus, highlight existing focal points, incorporate new elements, create layers & texture, operate with a less is more mantra, and let our personalities shine. We believe successful holiday decor should incorporate six categories: 1.) Trees 2.) Wreathes/Garland 3.) Lighting 4.) Ornaments 5.) Ribbon 6.) Table Top/Mantle. Each of these categories is important to a full and cohesive end result.
